Mrs. Piper Ward's musical journey began at a very young age.  The middle
child of 5 girls, she comes from a musical family.  Her two older sisters
were already taking piano lessons, and she counted the days until she was

old enough to have a lesson of her own.

Mrs.Ward studied piano with Mrs.Barbara Cockerham age 5 all the way
through high-school, participating in many different piano competitions
and activites on the local and state level.

When she graduated high-school, she accepted a music scholarship in
addition to a full paid academic scholarship to Louisiana College.
There she continued her study of piano with Mrs.Mary Crump, and enrolled
in Piano Pedagogy courses in the fall of 1998.

As part of her Piano Pedagogy course, she was required to teach free piano
lessons under the supervision of her Pedagogy professor and teacher, Mrs.
Crump.  This was the beginning of her teaching career!  Although she had
considered Piano Performance,  after the birth of her daughter Ryan she
decided to focus on Piano Pedagogy, and to keep teaching piano lessons.

She joined Central Louisiana Music Teachers Association, and taught lessons
in her hometown until she made Texas her home in 2002.  She then joined
Conroe Music Teachers Association, and established her studio in the Conroe/ Woodlands Area.

Although she has always loved and practiced piano, she credits her parents
with helping her to stay committed, and providing her with the tools she
needed to succeed.

Mrs. Ward believes that piano lessons should be a part of every child's
curriculum, and that the benefits are immeasurable!
Pianists are able to read a universal language, and are able learn  and play
whatever sort of music they love to express their individual style.
In addition, young pianists learn important skills such as self-discipline.
They are taught the benefits of staying committed to a long term goal, even
when it isn't always easy.

In addition to classical music, Mrs.Ward enjoys teaching and playing piano
in many different styles-- Jazz piano, Movie soundtracks, and Pop music.
She believes that if students are able to learn music that appeals to them (in
addition to their core curriculum), that they will love piano and have fun!

Mrs.Ward has now been teaching for over 12 years.
Her goal as a teacher is to help and train each of her students to reach a
level of note reading and musicianship to become independent musicians!
